Efforts to improve student learning outcomes Clothing Boutique Class X-2 in the first half integer multiplication operation materials with problem-based learning model

BY UTORO, RUDOLF. MA

Integer multiplication is the basis of understanding the students to master math well. Reality on the ground shows that mathematics is one of the lessons that are less attractive to some students, especially in SMK Negeri 3 Blitar. This can be shown in the formative value of class X Department of Clothing Boutique there are 6 students from 34 students scored below the KKM is 75 with a percentage of 17.6% of the school year 2012/2013.
There is concern the teacher in class X-2 Department of Clothing Boutique SMK Negeri 3 Blitar is based on the value determined by the school KKM ie 77.78 will occur as the result of student learning in academic year 2012/2013 so that the need for improvement of the learning process.
To eliminate concerns that the use of the class action is rapid multiplication of the number of tens in matter integer multiplication operation is expected to increase the motivation of students of class X-2 Department of Clothing Boutique first semester of the school year 2013/2014.
Use multiplication operation can be generally described as follows: ab cd = × (a × c) (bag I) ((ad × bc)) (bag II) (b × d) (bag III), sintac done beforehand is part III where the result of multiplying b × d there are two (2) terms, namely (1) b × d <10 and (2) b × d≥10, followed the second and the last part is the part I.
PBL model study carried out in a cooperative learning with five steps: 1). Providing the problem, 2) .merencanakan problem solving, 3) .mengorganisasi problem solving, 4). Develop and present solutions and 5). Analyze and evaluate problem-solving, in a discussion is given to students in the hope braimstorming students dared to ask, express opinions with appropriate arguments get information on students.
After conducting a class action matter integer multiplication operations, student learning outcomes show an increase in the understanding that the average percentage of the value of the post-test on the KKM increased 14.85% of the average value of the pre-test can be said to be complete in the first cycle and increase the percentage the average value of the application of the average post-test score of 2.21% in the second cycle, while the time required to complete the application of the test there is an increase of about 1.79 minutes faster than test post-test questions. With the improvement of student learning outcomes indirectly skills students also increased. Observation of teachers in the learning activity of the criteria for success are excellent qualifications
With the success of the operation material integer multiplication using the PBL model study concluded that the learning model of Problem Based Learning can be used as an alternative to mathematics learning in the integer multiplication material of class X in the first half of SMK Negeri 3 Blitar.
